Pet Peeve: Cell phone voice mail instructions

Can we petition that ALL the cell phone companies decided on standardization for voice mail functions. i.e. ALWAYS... press 1 to go directly to voicemail.  Press 2 to send a page, and so on.  It's drives me absolutely bonkers to get voice mail to press 1 to expedite the process of getting to voice mail to then get a pre-recorded message that button was invalid and then to take more time to say, please wait until the beep to leave your message, press * for more options, or 3 to turn the coffee maker on or whatever.  Ugh!!!!!!  For future reference on my voice can passby the message by pressing 1.

Sounds like you need a nice root beer float. Hmmm, now that I think about it, maybe I need a nice root beer float. I will never forgive myself for working in the cell phone industry for six years. I made a lot of money, but at what cost to civilization and time with our families? LOL

Can you really bypass by pushing 1. I have been struggling with that annoying scene for months. I hate the fact it takes so long for someone to get to the beep and I hate that I don't have access to turn to that feature OFF!!! It has made me often wonder how many people hang up rather than wait.

Russell-That is sooooo true! It's amazing to think I've only had the luxury of having a cell phone for about 15 years.  What did we do before that? It really has made life hard because we have to work all the time it seems like. There's no longer down time.  I've made it a point of shutting off my phone when I'm with my family.

Patrick-I have AT&T and you can bypass my voice mail to get to the beep by pressing 1. The problem is that with other companies, I try to press 1 and it takes me somewhere else.

I wish people would leave a short and to the point message. If you have Verizon, you can press the * key to by pass the message.

I do love wondering if it goes straight to the voice mail or do I have press a number while crashing my car into someone. Very good point and may we all have hands free one day.

Ya I know what you mean. Especially when you have several people you call and need to leave messages to and everyone has a different phone service, hence different #'s to bypass it all. I'll jump on board with the universal same keys!

LOL!  Thats funny!  I though I was the only one who got annoyed by that.  What ever happen to the old fashion..."This is Mike, leave a message".....beep.
